The first half of the month had us working our way slowly out of Baja. We stopped in Los Barriles, La Paz, Loreto, and Agua Verde. While in La Paz we went snorkeling and swimming with whale sharks with our friends Tim and Theresa (who we met several weeks earlier and met up with in Todos Santos as well). We had other friends fly into Loreto to visit us for a few days and we enjoyed having them experience Baja.
Hailey had a medical issue that was difficult to get care for in the small towns we were in. She ended up flying from Loreto to Los Angeles (there's a direct flight between the two cities). Josh spent two days driving from Loreto to Los Angeles - about a 16 hour drive and in temperatures that reached over 100 degrees. While in Los Angeles we stayed at AirBnbs and did van maintenance. Staying in the city isn't our favorite but we found a nice RV campground at Malibu Beach RV Park. We had views of the water and were able to spend some time at the beach.
We took the van to the Anaheim Mercedes dealership where they replaced three actuators for us under warranty. After that we stayed at Mission Bay RV Park. We stopped at Santa Monica to walk the pier and take photos of the Route 66 sign. We paid $46 for parking since the van is considered an RV. When we were in San Diego we were able to meet up with our friends that we went on the whale shark excursion with. Mission Bay RV Park was nice as we were able to camp within San Diego city limits and it was easy to walk around parks and the surrounding area.
